Raúl Anguiano

Biografía

Raúl Anguiano was a prominent Mexican painter and a key member of the third generation of Mexican Mural School artists. He used muralism as a form of social critique in the 1930s and co-founded the Mexican Plastic Arts Salon in 1949. His artistic focus centered on rural Mexico, indigenism, popular festivals, traditions, and religious themes. Anguiano exhibited internationally across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, with significant retrospectives at the Palace of Fine Arts and a posthumous exhibition at San Ildefonso College. His murals can be found in major Mexican institutions and international venues, including the National Anthropology Museum, the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles, and East Los Angeles College.
